ASME SA387 Grade 5 Plates is made up of a chromium molybdenum alloy that can be used in carbon steels pressure vessels that need excessive welding. The material has 5% chromium and 0.5% molybdenum which makes the material weldable. The molybdenum addition gives the UNS S50200 Steel Plates the high temperature capacities and the mild corrosion resistance capacities in combination with the chromium content.

There are two classes of which the class 1 is the most commonly used. The Alloy Steel SA 387 GR 5 CL. 2 Plates have higher mechanical properties than the class 1 plates. The ASME SA 387 Grade 5 CL. 2 Pressure Vessel Steel Plate comes in 5mm to 150mm thickness. The different thicknesses of the plates are used in various pressure capacities depending on the applications. The SA 387 GR.5 Class 2 Chromium - Molybdenum Alloy Steel Plate can range from 1000mm to 4500mm in width and the length of the plates can vary from 3000mm to 18000mm. The SA 387 GR.5 CL.2 Boiler Steel Plates, Alloy Steel Grade 5 Sheet can also be normalized rolled, furnace normalized, vacuum degassed and rolled.
